Obituary
Abbie Elaine Ward, 61, a life-long resident of this area, died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. She was born August 3, 1955 in St. Louis to the late Roy Herschel and Janie Iona (Bryan) Duncan Rodgers. She had worked as a certified nurse assistant and as a personal care giver for many years. On May 29, 1971 she was married to Roger Dale Ward and he preceded her in death February 22, 2009. She is survived by 2 sons, Jamie Ward of Matthews and Roger Ward, II of Sikeston; 1 daughter Lorrie McClenton of Sikeston, and 1 brother, Larry Bryan of Houston, Texas. Also surviving are 3 grandsons: Roger Ward, III, Tomero McClenton and John Longstreet, Jr., and 2 granddaughters, Lindsay Ward and Sara Little. Three great-grandchildren, William Henderson, Peyton Henderson and Evan Johnson also survive. Besides her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by one grandson. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, Nov. 16 at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield with Rev. John Tarter, pastor of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Pallbearers will be Bobby Bryan, Jonathon Bryan, Jason Ward and Dustin Pearson.
