Obituary

AL STOTTS BURNETT, JR., age 50, a resident of Franklin, Tennessee, formerly of Charleston, died Wednesday, June 17, 2015 in Nashville, Tennessee.

He was born April 15, 1965 at Missouri Delta Community Hospital in Sikeston to Al Stotts and Mildred Irene Reeves Burnett who survive of Charleston. A member of the United Methodist Church in Charleston, he was a graduate of Charleston High School and attended Southwest Missouri State University, University of Missouri – Columbia, then Southeast Missouri State University where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business Finance. He was employed as an Account Representative with Nationwide Southeast.

Stotts was quite competitive in the game of tennis, golf was secondary with him. Stotts Burnett loved God and his fellow man. He had a big heart. When a friend was down he came to his aid, even to the extent of some he had never met before. He was very giving. His home was in Franklin, TN but returned home fairly often to enjoy time with family and friends of a lifetime.

In addition to his parents he is survived by one brother, Gary Stuart Burnett of Charleston; two sisters and one brother in law, Julie Ann and Charles Wheland Jr. of Orange Beach, Alabama and Helen Burnett Hicks of Charleston; his fiancé, Lisa Chandler of Franklin, Tennessee; three nephews Charles Wheland III of Chattanooga,Tennessee, Gary Stotts and his wife Amanda Eftink Burnett of Sikeston, Stephen and his wife, Sarah Cain Hicks, Jr. of Charleston; one aunt Donna Reeves Morgan of rural Charleston; and many cousins and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Peter Stotts and Helen Bryant Burnett, and Oda Augusta and Mittie Parker Reeves.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 21, 2015, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2015. Rev. Jim Malugen, pastor of the First Christian Church in Charleston, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the IOOF Cemetery in the Stotts family plot under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Mark French, Boyd French, Ted Slaten, Hunter Raffety, Stephen Burke, Kerry Gilmore, Richard Crawford, Lindsay Goodin, Mark Stallings, Chris Chambers, and Edward Marshall.
