Obituary

Alan Marc Whitaker, 68, formerly of Sikeston, died Friday April 1, 2016 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born July 4, 1947 in Sikeston to the late Francis Marion and Martha Cristeen (Waters) Whitaker. He was a member of Miner Baptist Church and was an avid supporter of the Republican Party and was often known as Mr. GOP or Mr. Republican. Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by his grandmother who raised him, Lenna LaVerta Waters, and one sister-in-law, Maribeth Whitaker. He is survived by one brother, Clay Whitaker of East Prairie and one sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Glennon Johnson of Charleston. Three Nieces, four nephews, several great-nieces, great-nephews, two aunts and several cousins also survive. Visitation will be at Blanchard Funeral Chapel from 10:00 am until time for services at 1:00 pm Tuesday, April 5, 2016. Jim Matthews, pastor of Cape County Cowboy Church will officiate and Rev. Mitchell Jackson, pastor of Miner Baptist Church will assist in the service. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Darryl Griggs, Dick Nelson, Howard Harper, Chester Cardwell, Chris Beyerbach and Tyler Beyerbach. Honorary pallbearers will be George St. Onge and Mac McInnis.
