ALBERT EDWARD ROLWING, JR., 63, of Charleston, died Tuesday, December 12, 2017, near Charleston.
Born May 17, 1954, at Cairo, IL, to Mary Jo Walker Rolwing who survives of Charleston, and the late Albert Edward "Bert" Rolwing, he was raised in Charleston where he was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and a 1972 graduate of Charleston High School. He moved to Texas where he trained cutting horses in Terrell, TX for the past 30 years. A member of the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA), over the course of his career he won many championships and received national recognition, also winning the Masters in Europe award. While living in Terrell, he had attended the St. John Catholic Church. He took great pride in helping to mentor and inspire others in the cutting horse industry.
On November 4, 1977, he married Claudia Jean Kirkpatrick, who survives of the home in Charleston.
Surviving besides his wife and mother are: one daughter, Amanda (Jason) Todt of Oran; one brother, Larry Rolwing of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Diane Newcomb of Miner and Paulette (Todd) Lenderman and Cindy (Terry) Cole all of Sikeston; also a number of nieces and nephews.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by one sister, Sharon Marie Rolwing Bryant.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time for the funeral mass at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 16, 2017, at the St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston. His uncle, Monsignor Richard Rolwing, will serve as celebrant.
Private family interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
