Obituary
ALMA GERALDINE MURPHY, Age 80, died Monday evening, March 8, 2010, at the Bertrand Nursing Facility.
Born December 28, 1929 at Portageville, Mo., to the late William Chester and Maud Aliston Hunt, she had lived in the North Chicago, IL area a number of years where she was employed with the North Chicago School District until her retirement in 1982. She was a member of the North Shore Bowling League. In 1985, she moved to Charleston and was of Baptist Belief.
On September 2, 1954, she married Charles Murphy who survives of the home.
Also surviving are: her niece and caregiver, Sue Smith of Charleston; great nephew, Bill Smith; great nieces, Alice Haddock and Toni Smith; also a number of other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Wallace Hunt, Eugene Hunt and Louis Hunt and by four sisters, Alvina Stader, Ruby Gray, Doris Ponder and Gladys Hunt.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Michael Brewer, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Charleston, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
