Amira Joy Straughter was born July 13, 2009, in St. Louis Mo. She is preceded in death by her mother, Sidqourney Straughter; her maternal grandfather, Vernon Evans and her great grandparents, Wilma Gene Straughter and Billy Jean Oliver.
Amira is a native of Missouri. She has resided in Columbia, St. Louis and Charleston, all of where she attended school. Ultimately, Mexico, MO, is where the majority of her life was spent. She has left a lifetime impact no matter the location. Amira loved doing hair, dancing and enjoying a good meal. Being around family and friends would always brighten her day, leaving everyone with her contagious smile. Misunderstood might be a word to describe her but she was always two steps ahead with great intentions. She never let adversity stop her.
On the evening of November 26, 2024, Amira was called to her forever home and graciously reunited with her mother whom she loved very much.
Amira is survived by her grandmother, Tamara Straughter; great grandparents, Freddie and Yvonne Evans; one sister, Nierra Marie Straughter of St. Louis, MO; and one brother La'Jouneis Cortez Straughter of Columbia, MO. Amira has a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at noon, Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
