Amos (Andy) Andrew Holifield, age 80, formerly of Charleston, MO, entered through Heaven's gate Sunday, August 22, 2021 in Harlingen, TX.

Andy was born to Amos W. Holifield and Blanche Alvey Holifield on March 3, 1941 at Charleston, MO. Known as Andy, he grew up in the Charleston area.  Andy often talked about growing up picking cotton on a cotton farm alongside his brothers and sisters. He was a great track athlete in high school, setting the record for pole vaulting. In 1960, Andy enlisted in the U.S.Navy and was stationed in Adak, Alaska.

Once returned from the Navy, Andy married Kathryn Roth in 1964. They had 3 beautiful children, David, Steven, and Christine. They lived in Upland, CA where he owned a bike shop, Pomona Schwinn Cyclery.  Later, he worked for Omaha Woodmen Life from 1986-1996. He supported many organizations such as the Pomona parade, boy scouts, boys and girl's soccer, Indian guides, etc. Andy and Kathryn were married 30 years.

In 1994, Andy married Irene Drummond and lived in Arizona. They retired while investing in real estate properties. They took many vacations together and lived the RV lifestyle.  They were married for about 11 years.

For the last few years, Andy resided at Fun N Sun RV Resort in San Benito, TX where he made many friends.  Andy found his loving companion, Trish Hone at the annual singles dance in Bandera, TX.  Together for 10 years, they shared many RV experience across the country.  Trish was by his side when he peacefully passed away.

Andy was a devoted Christian man and attended church at Fun N Sun Worship & Lifehouse Fellowship.  Family meant everything to Andy. He was happiest when his whole family was together. He also had a passion for dancing. His favorite type of dance was the Country/Western (Texas) two-step. You could often catch him listening to Johnny Cash, reading western books, sitting in the spa, sipping on rum and Coke, and telling stories of his past. He was generally seen wearing his cowboy hat and gold watch.

He is survived by his daughter Christine Van Voorst (Jay) of Eagle, CO; his grandchildren, Jordan Van Voorst (Ashley), Whitney Reddy (Jacob), Rebecka Ekstrom (Joakim), Brianna Holifield, Brandon Holifield, James Holifield, and Geneva Holifield; great grandchildren, Serena Van Voorst, Roman Van Voorst, Sawyer Reddy, Carter Reddy, Leah Ekstrom and Gloria Van Voorst. Andy is also survived by his brother, Leonard Holifield; sister, Sharon Payne; also, a number of nephews, nieces and cousins.

Andy was preceded in death by his sons, David Holifield (Audrey) and Steven Holifield (Christine); his great granddaughter, Grace Marie Reddy; also, in addition to his parents, his brothers, Jim Holifield, David Holifield, Don Holifield; his sisters, Betty Fair, and Mary Eftink.

Family and friends may gather from 9:00 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 3, 2021, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, MO. Dave McLucas will officiate.  Masks are encouraged.

Graveside services with full military honors will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.

The family has made lodging arrangements with the Pear Tree Inn at Sikeston, MO.  Those traveling from out of town are encouraged to do the same so all the family can gather in a central location.
