ARTHUR EDWARD 'BOB' WHEATLEY, Age 72, a resident of East Prairie, died Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born September 6, 1937, in the Sugar Tree Ridge Community of New Madrid County, Missouri, to the late Edgar "Ed" and Vivian Marie Thompson Wheatley, he had lived in East Prairie most of his life and had been employed as a truck driver for a number of years until his retirement.
On July 3, 1956, he married Betty Rose Kirby, who preceded him in death December 25, 1974
Surviving are: five sons and daughters in law, Bobby and Linda Wheatley, Danny and Laura Wheatley, Jimmy and June Wheatley, Ronnie and Missy Wheatley and Robert "Pug" and Faye Wheatley all of East Prairie; three daughters and two sons in law, Hilda and Danny Greer of the Salcedo Community near Sikeston, MO; Brenda and Bill Cartwright and Carol Wheatley all of East Prairie; two brothers, John Kirby and George Kirby both of East Prairie; three sisters, Nancy Hedges and Bonnie Brown both of East Prairie and Ruth Ann Burns of Diehlstadt; 27 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are: one son, James Earl Wheatley; one great granddaughter, Makayla Nicole Wheatley; two brothers, Harley Gene Wheatley and William Paul "Bill" Wheatley and eight sisters, Laverne Chandler, Francis Hunter, Alleen Wheatley, Dora Shull, Cora Haygood, Birdie Merryman, Marie Woods and Lois Coxville.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2010. Rev. Michael Cartwright, pastor of the Canalou Assembly of God Church and Stanley Triplett of East Prairie, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be his five sons and three daughters and Paul Gene Wheatley.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: David Wheatley, Hunter Wilson, Johnny Patrick, Jeff Patrick, Christopher Wheatley, Ryan Wheatley, Bradley Wheatley, John Gammons and Jason Aycock.
