BARBARA JANE BROWN, Age 85, a resident of Charleston, died Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born August 5, 1928, at Essex, Missouri, to the late Arthur Bryant "Archie" Parker and Charlotte Steger Parker, she had lived in Charleston most of her life where she had been employed as a bookkeeper and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Charleston.
On August 24, 1947, she married A.S. "Alfie" Brown, Jr., who preceded her in death September 14, 2001.
Surviving are: two daughters and sons-in-law, Sallie and Lee Goodin of Charleston and Sheila and Ron Whaley of Alcoa, TN; four grandchildren, Christopher (Amy) Whaley of Alcoa, TN; Mandy Whaley of Tampa, FL; Charlotte (Brian) Matthews of Cape Girardeau and Lee-Stroud (Brad) Laroche of Jacksonville, FL; three great grandchildren, Jackson David Matthews, Wendy Beth Whaley and Emma-Lee Elizabeth Laroche.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur Bryant "Archie" Parker, Jr.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 11, 2013. The Rev. Gerald Penn, pastor of the First Assembly of God Church in Charleston, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: Christopher Whaley, Brian Matthews, Al Goodin, Matt Hollis, Charles Graham and Evin Burke.
