Barney Ray Oliver
June 27, 1942 - October 19, 2021

Barney Ray Oliver, age 79, of Charleston, passed away peacefully at his home in the company of his wife of 57 years in the early morning of Tuesday, October 19, 2021.

He was born June 27, 1942, in Caruthersville, MO son of the late Charles Ray and Kate Elizabeth Gray Oliver.

He served as a member of the Missouri state National Guard. He dedicated 40 years to Ford Motor Company in Sikeston, MO as an Auto-mechanic. He enjoyed spending his time with family and friends, reading, hunting, and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Nellie Elizabeth Grogan Oliver of Charleston, MO; one daughter, Melissa (Dale) Tatum of Bertrand, MO; one daughter in law,  Betty Oliver of Charleston, MO; one brother, Wayne Oliver of Muskogee, OK;  two sisters, Jo Mesplay of Hornsby, TN and  Faye Calvert of Bull head City, AZ. Five grandchildren: Lauren Oliver, Jacob Tatum, Katherine Oliver, Madeline Tatum, and Isaac Oliver (Kansas) and two great-grand children Charley Rae Suggs and Easton Hayes Oliver.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Charles Edward "Charlie" Oliver; a grandson, Caleb Aaron Tatum, three brothers: Jim Oliver, Rob Oliver, and Raymond Oliver and three sisters,  Bertie Wilbanks, Lucille Hepler, and Mabel Culp.

Family and friends may gather between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM, Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at the Charleston Nutrition Center, For a celebration of Barney's life.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Charleston Nutrition Center or Southside Baptist Church of Charleston, MO.

McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
