Benson Forrest
SIKESTON — Benson Presnell Forrest, 85, died at 11:45 p.m. March 2, 2012, at the Miner Nursing Center.
Born Feb. 14, 1927, in Sikeston, to the late Benson Bayliss Forrest and Florence Cox Forrest, he had worked as a shoe machinist at International Shoe Factory and was a member of Life Church.
On Nov. 16, 1951, in Piggott, Ark., he married Geneva Dufur who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Benson J. and Jackie Forrest of Lexington, Ky.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Angelia and Jimmy Sloan and Toleitha Campbell of Sikeston; and seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Aulbrie Forrest; and four sisters, Ola West, Lillian Peterson, Mary Ann Chansley and Maxine Ashcraft.
Graveside services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. today with the Rev. David Craig, pastor of Life Church in Sikeston, officiating.
Pallbearers were: Larry McRoy, Bobby Himes, Arthur Ashcraft, Maury Bargetzi, Everett Flanigan and Jeff West.
Honorary pallbearers were: Maurice West and Jimmy Sloan.
Blanchard Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
