Obituary

BERNARD A. DUENNE, age 70, a resident of Charleston died Monday, July 12, 2010 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born September 30, 1939 in Charleston to Henry and Helena Rodgers Duenne. He had lived in Charleston most of his life where he was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, served as a volunteer at St. Henry School, and was active in the Pro-life movement. A graduate of St. Henry High School, he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from the University of Missouri-Columbia. In June 1981 he joined his parents in the family business, Duenne's Fabric Shop until it's closing in 1995. He was then employed with Stark Manufacturing in Charleston until his retirement in 2006. He was U.S. Army veteran.

On July 2, 1976 he married Jane Marie Hulshof who survives of the home.

Surviving are three sons, Chris Duenne of Bell City, Joe Duenne of Charleston, Donald Duenne of Washington, DC; one daughter, Sister Catherine Duenne with the Order of St. Benedict in Louisville, KY; one brother and sister in law, Mike and Sue Duenne of Charleston; one sister, Janet Kapatoes of Rockford, IL; and five grandchildren, Whitney Abner of Ft. Myers, FL, Mallory Dockins of Bell City, Jack Duenne of Bell City, Connor Dugan and Reagann Duenne both of Charleston.

Two brothers, Charles Duenne and Paul David Duenne, preceded him in death.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Prayers will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010, at St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston with Father Glenn Eftink, Pastor, serving as Celebrant.

Missouri Military Honor Guard will conduct Graveside Rites at Calvary Cemetery with interment following under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
