Obituary

BERNICE NOLEN CULP, Age 83, a resident of East Prairie, died Saturday, November 15, 2014, at her home in East Prairie.

Born April 3, 1931, in Mississippi County, MO, to the late William and Dura Duty Nolen, she had lived in Mississippi County her entire life and was a graduate of Charleston High School. A graduate of Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, she held a master's degree with double majors in History and Social Science. She was employed with the East Prairie R-2 School District for over 32 years where she taught history, government and psychology. She then worked for 14 years with the State of Missouri as a Social Service Caseworker until her retirement.

On March 21, 1959, she married Charles Thomas "Tommy" Culp, who preceded her in death on May 25, 2004.

Surviving are one son and daughter in law, William L. "Bubby" Culp and his wife Tina, of Jefferson City, MO; one daughter, Robin Culp of East Prairie; two sisters, Beatrice Doorack and Ruth Scott both of St. Louis, MO; six grandchildren, Kristin (Curtis) Sterling, Joshua (Jamie) Shoffner and Libbi (Mark) Higgins and Mari Shoffner all of East Prairie and Hailey Culp and Sarah Culp both of Jefferson City, MO; also three great grandchildren, Kylie Shoffner, Rylan Shoffner and Austin Hedrick all of East Prairie.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 17, 2014, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 18, 2014. Denny Hilton, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be: Tommy Nolen, Jim Cowser, Mark Morris, Scott Riley, Chris Doorack, Michael Doorack, Charles Scott, Rob Barker and Tim Haney.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Terry Reeves, Bruce Reeves and Lynn Reeves.
