BERTHA D. ANGOTTI MERRICK, age 90, a resident of Ellisville, formerly of Charleston, died Monday, October 26, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield.
She was born September 1, 1919 near Wirth, Arkansas to the late Stephen and Pearl Collins Angotti. Bertha was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Ellisville. She and her husband Truman resided in Charleston in the 1970's where they were members of the First Baptist Church and worked as a team caring for the children in the nursery. Bertha enjoyed the beauty of God's creation and loved to work in the garden. She was known for her green thumb and grew vegetables and flowers and took pride in caring for her yard.
On April 30, 1940 she married Truman L. Merrick who preceded her in death on July 14, 1988.
Surviving are two sons and two daughters-in-law, David L. and Sherry Merrick of Chesterfield, and Stephen M. and Linda Merrick of Ellisville; one brother, Donald Angotti of Olive Hill, TN; four grandchildren, Christine Merrick, Scott (Sue) Merrick, Matthew (Tammy) Merrick and Nathan (Catherine) Merrick; six great grandchildren, David, Mindy, Kayla, Josh, Samuel and Eve; also nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2009, at McMikle Funeral Home until the Funeral hour at 1:00 pm. Charles Murray, Senior Pastor, of the First Baptist Church in Ellisville, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the IOOF cemetery near Charleston under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
