Betty Ruth Brown, 81, a life-long resident of this area, died at her home in Morehouse Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019. She was born May 28, 1937 in Gideon to the late Harvey Franklin Roach and Dorothy (Reece) Roach Sledge. Betty had worked in the cutting department at International Shoe, as a school cook and cafeteria manager at Morehouse Schools, as a cashier at Houchins Donuts and for the past 12 years as a greeter at WalMart. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Morehouse. Betty was married May 28, 1960 to Herbert Roosevelt Brown, Jr. in Morehouse and he preceded her in death June 5, 2012. She is survived by 1 son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Kathy Brown of Morehouse; 1 brother, David Roach of Morehouse; and 1 sister & brother-in-law, Mary & Jack Summerlott of Sikeston. Also surviving are three grandchildren: Valerie & Josh Holman of Sikeston, Andrew & Britney Brown of Morehouse and Bethany Brown and her fiancé, David Denning of Sikeston; 2 great-granddaughters Annsley Holman and Jaxee-Grace Holman, and 1 great-grandson due in March, Maverick Holman. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her Mom, Evelyn (Kem) Roach. Visitation will be at Blanchard Funeral Chapel from 5:00 until 8:00 pm Wednesday. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Thursday, Jan. 10 at Blanchard Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jason Crowe, pastor of First Baptist Church of Morehouse officiating and burial will follow at 12:00 noon at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield. Pallbearers will be Brian Dial, Jerence Dial, Austin Dial, John Reeves, Kevin Jordan and Terry Summerlott. Online condolences may be shared with the family at blanchardfuneral.com.
