Betty Jean Busby Tingle, age 86, of Sikeston, died Thursday, December 28, 2023, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
She was born June 17, 1937, at East Prairie, MO, the late Paul and Florence Bibb Busby. She had lived in Sikeston a number of years where she was a licensed beautician and had also worked as a riverboat cook. She was a lifelong member of the Gospel Assembly Church having attended with the Sikeston congregation for many years. She loved her grandbabies, loved taking care of flowers and feeding squirrels.
She was first married to Eddie Childers and then Larry Tingle, who both preceded her in death.
Surviving are her children, Michael (Bobbi) Childers of Delta; Rick (Laura) Childers of Marble Hill, Pamela Treece of Sikeston and Kenneth (Paula) Childers of Grove Spring; her brothers and sisters, Larry (Norma) Busby, Noel (Velda) Busby, James (Lela) Busby, Ben (Cindy) Busby and Frieda (Jerry) Bolden; ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husbands and parents, Betty was preceded in death by her grandson, Drew Michael Childers; great granddaughters, Katelyn Childers and Alexis Sonnenberg; and her brothers and sisters, Paul David Busby, Joe Busby and Donna Mosier.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at noon, Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston. Rev. Bobby Mouser will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Sikeston.
