Betty Louise Faire Douglas, age 83, formerly of East Prairie, died Monday, September 30, 2024, at her home in Scott City, MO.
Born July 28, 1941, at East Prairie, MO, to the late Herschel Faire and Emelene Patrick Faire, she grew up in East Prairie but had lived in Scott City a number of years. She was a homemaker, loved quilting, was a skilled seamstress. She especially loved traveling with her husband. Betty was a faithful member of New Beginnings Fellowship in Sikeston, MO.
On June 13, 1959, she married Howard Taft Douglas, who preceded her in death on April 28, 2023.
Surviving is her daughter, Judith Ann Douglas of Scott City; nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; her brother, Glenn (Donna) Faire; her sister, Shelby Woods; also, a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Eugene Douglas; her brothers, John Thomas "J.T." Faire, Raymond Faire, Delbert Faire, Fred Farie and William Doyle "Bill" Faire and her sisters, Ruth Clifft, Lucille Rhodes, Dorothy Wilson and Faye Waterhouse.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 3, 2024, at the New Beginnings Fellowship, 720 David Lane, Sikeston, MO. Tommy Smotherman will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
