Betty Jean Jenkins, age 71, of East Prairie, died Saturday, March 12, 2022, at the home of her son in Sikeston.

She was born July 29, 1950, in East Prairie, MO, to the late Cledith "Nub" Hampton and Mary Katherine Cooper Hampton.  Betty was a 1969 graduate of East Prairie High School and had lived in East Prairie her entire life. For over 34 years she was employed with Walmart, first at Charleston until its closing and then transferred to the Sikeston store where she retired.  She attended Beginnings Fellowship Church in Miner.    Betty was a hard worker and a strong-willed individual, determined to give her sons the best she could.

Surviving are her sons, Thomas P. (Corey) Jenkins, Jr. of Kahoka, MO and Todd (Ashli) Jenkins of Sikeston; two grandchildren, Sky Jenkins and Madyson Walker; her brother in law, Mark Costa of Bakersfield, CA and her sister, Joyce Brockus of East Prairie.  Also, nieces, nephews and several cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Hampton Costa.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 19, 2022, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston.  Tommy Smotherman will officiate.

Interment will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston.

Pallbearers will be: Ronald Hampton, Paul Glenn Benson, Camden Myers, Danny Naile, Scott Branam and Phil Smotherman.
