Betty Lou Sanderson Haley, age 79, of East Prairie, died Friday, May 5, 2023, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born September 13, 1943, at Cairo, IL, to the late Warden Sanderson and Margaret Louise Williams Sanderson Belk, she had lived in Charleston most of her life, moving to East Prairie in 2015. Betty was a lifelong cook. Preparing and sharing meals for others was a favorite thing of hers to do. She began her cooking career with Barnhill's at Wyatt at a young age and went on to employment in many other places until her retirement. She was a member of the Elm Street Baptist Church in Charleston.
On May 9, 1993, she married Harold Dean Haley, who preceded her in death on November 11, 2011.
Surviving are her children, Jeffery Carl Ketchum of East Prairie; Betty Charlene Oliver (Will Bolt) of Charleston; Anthony Ray Williford of Portageville and Cynthia Louise (Randy) Keen of Bertrand; her sisters, Becky Wier of Park Hills and Mary McGarrity and Christine Bell both of St. Louis; her grandchildren, Jeffery (Chelsea) Ketchum, Jr.; Lauren Oliver, Aleisha (Matt) Kinder, Taylor (Jordan) Denning, Levi (Meghan) Moore, Katie Oliver, Zachary Ketchum and Isaac (Kansas) Oliver; great grandchildren, Jadelyn Denning, Cambree Denning, Aiden Ketchum, Karlee Ketchum, Logan Ketchum, Charley Rae Suggs, Payson Moore, Easton Oliver and two on the way; also, a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her infant sons, Charles Leroy Ketchum and Grady Dewayne Ketchum; her son in law, Charlie Oliver; her brothers, Wayne Sanderson, Warden Sanderson and Stephen E. Sanderson; and her previous husbands, Charles Ketchum and Jim Williford.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Jon Archie will officiate.
Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
Pallbearers will be Issac Oliver, Zachary Ketchum, Jeffery Ketchum, Jr., Levi Moore, Randy Keen, Will Bolt and Jordan Denning.
