James William "Bill" Foster Jr., age 51, of Charleston, died Thursday, July 14, 2016, at home surrounded by his friends and family.
Mr. Foster was born on May 22, 1965 in Cape Girardeau, MO, to Evelyn Louise Medley and James William Foster Sr. Mr. Foster was raised in the small river town of Commerce Mo. often spoke fondly of growing up there.
In 1989, Mr. Foster graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a Master of Arts degree in English with an emphasis on teaching. In 1992, Mr. Foster was given the opportunity to combine his love of baseball cards and memorabilia and retail when he became manager of Broadway Sportscards and Collectibles and happily remained so for the next 12 yrs.
In 2004-05, Mr. Foster joined the faculty at Charleston R1 public schools and taught English at both the high school and middle school. He remained employed there until illness forced his retirement in June 2016. Mr. Foster also worked several semesters as a part time faculty member for both Southeast Missouri State University and Shawnee Community College.
On May 4, 2002, Bill married Abbigale Bernice Humphreys of Gerber CA. In December 2003, Bill and Abbi were blessed with the birth of their son, Elijah Quinn. Bill loved Abbi and Eli deeply. Mr. Foster believed in the redeeming power in Jesus's blood and resurrection and was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include his wife, Abbi, and son, Eli, both of the home; One Brother, Cletus (Michelle) Foster and nephews, Jacob and Andrew from Benton Mo.; Brothers from another mother John (Roberta) Casebolt, Glyen (Dawn) Brown, and Robert Williams from Benton KY; Sister in laws Melissa (Chauncey) Peters and nieces Ava and Mia from Los Molinas CA and Robin (Mike) Jarred and niece Sarah from Gerber CA.
Bill was preceded in death by his unborn child, his parents and both sets of grandparents.
Visitation will be held at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston from 4:00 p.m. until time for memorial services at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 19, 2016. Brother David Thompson, pastor of Morley Baptist Church will officiate. Brother John Casebolt will deliver the eulogy.
Private burial will follow at a later date.
