WILLIAM "BILLY JOE" BROTHERS, age 72, a resident of Charleston died at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at the Charleston Manor.
He was born April 3, 1937 in Charleston to the late Joseph Raleigh and Edna Ethel McKenzie Brothers. He had lived in Charleston his entire life and attended the First Christian Church in Charleston and Cornerstone Church in Bertrand. Billy Joe was a dependable visitor and helper to many downtown businesses. He willingly offered a helping hand in carrying out bags for Dollar Store customers as well as gathering and returning shopping carts from the parking lot.
Surviving are one brother and sister in law, L.V. and Eula Fay Brothers of Sikeston; one sister, Arneita B. Price of East Prairie; and one sister in law, Burnis Brothers of Willow Springs.
Five brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Graveside Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the Ash Hill Cemetery near Fisk with Rev. Jim Malugen, pastor of the First Christian Church in Charleston, officiating.
Interment will follow under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
