BILLY RAY MITCHELL, age 87, of East Prairie, died Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born July 11, 1933, at Wolf Island, MO to the late Robert and Robbie Mitchell.  Raised by his uncle and aunt, Milan and Lexi Mitchell, he had lived in East Prairie most of his life where he had attended the First Assembly of God Church and especially loved the home building mission work of the church.  He was a longtime volunteer with the American Red Cross.  He was a talented craftsman and loved to make fishing nets of all types.

In 1961, he married Annie Sue Williams, who preceded him in death 2008.

Surviving is his special nephew, Leslie Siars of East Prairie; his sister, Lucille Tolliver of Union City, TN and other dear family members, James and Linda Williams of East Prairie and Joyce Goyco of Dexter, as well as a number other nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a number of brothers and sisters.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 1, 2021, at the Dogwood Cemetery.  Martin Lucas of East Prairie, will officiate.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
