BILLY JOE WILKERSON, Age 76, a resident of Bertrand, died Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born September 18, 1936, at Wyatt, MO, to the late Joseph Aaron "Joe" Wilkerson and Wretha Violet Ervin Wilkerson, he had lived in Bertrand most of his life and owned and operated Wilkerson Trucking for over 45 years. He then owned and operated T and J's Package Store. A former member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge in Charleston, he was of the General Baptist belief.
On July 13, 1957, he married Gracie Delk, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are: four sons, Bryan Wilkerson of Sikeston; Derrick Wilkerson and Dale Wilkerson of Bertrand and Wade Wilkerson of Lovelaceville, KY; one daughter, Kim Davis of St. Louis; two brothers, Bobby Wilkerson of Memphis, TN and Terry Wilkerson of Mountain View, MO; one sister, Patricia Arington of Little Rock, AR; 8 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Billy Joe "Bill" Wilkerson Jr.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 12, 2012 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 13, 2012. Todd Crumley, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
His sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
