Obituary

ROBERT EUGENE "BOB" GLASS, age 84, died Friday, November 12, 2021 at his residence in Charleston.

He was born November 9, 1937 in Mississippi County to John O. and Irene Shoemaker Glass.  He attended Charleston Public Schools until enlisting with the US Navy on February 7, 1956. He served for twenty years in multiple duty stations around the globe obtaining the rank of Chief Petty Officer before his retirement from Naval service in September 1975.   Upon his return, he was employed as Park Director for the City of Charleston. He managed the Cabana Motel in New Madrid, bought and managed the Sands Motel in Charleston and later opened Charleston Carpet Cleaning Service, operating it for several years until retirement. He was of Baptist belief.

On April 20, 1956, at Hernando, MS, he married Margaret Ann Griffin, who preceded him death on April 8, 2019.

Surviving is his daughter, Sharron Kay Coleman of Charleston; three grandsons, Thomas Craig Glass, Kenneth Robert (Jamie) Bailey and Scott Britton (Jennifer) Robertson; and his great grandchildren, Jaidon Glass, Madison Glass, Trey Glass, Harper Bailey and Maddox Mabus.

Besides his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Robert Eugene "Bobby" Glass, Jr; one daughter, Sandra Sue Crane and his son in law, Steve Coleman.

Private services will be held at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield, MO, under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
