Bob Greer

Robert Earl Greer, age 87, of East Prairie, died Sunday, June 25, 2023, at the Missouri State Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

Bob was born April 7, 1936, in Mississippi County, MO to the late William Earl Greer and Marie Schneider Greer.  He grew up in East Prairie and was a graduate of East Prairie Schools.  Following his graduation, Bob joined the United States Air Force from which he retired after 20 years of service.   He then worked for 22 years at Noranda and then 12 years at MRM Ag in East Prairie until his retirement.   He loved to drive an 18 wheel truck.

On March 20, 1956, he married Janet Kay McIlroy, who survives of the home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Terry Greer of East Prairie and Steve (Angie) Greer of Tuscon, AZ; his grandchildren, Amber Waters of Jackson; Joey Dennis of Kansas City, MO; Prentice Greer and Zoey Greer of Tuscon, AZ and Tera Greer of Sikeston; his great grandchildren, Robert Crawford, Lauren Waters, Ryker Greer and Remi Greer; one great great grandson, Jason Crawford; also, a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert Earl "Robbie" Greer, II; his daughter, Cathy Marie Greer Dennis and his brothers, Jack Greer and Joe Greer.

Family and friends may assemble for graveside services with full military honors at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 7, 2023, at the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.   Martin Lucas will officiate.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
