Bonnie L. Bilderback-Bates, age 94, of Bertrand and formerly of Bernie, MO, died Friday, December 27, 2024, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center in Sikeston, MO.

She was born December 7, 1930, at Bernie, MO, to the late Clarence Hughes and Ruth Knight Hughes.  She had lived in Stoddard County most of her life most recently moving to Bertrand, MO.

Bonnie was first married to Wayne W. Bilderback, who preceded her in death November 16, 1998.   She later married John Bates who survives of Bertrand.

Bonnie had a son, Scott (Susie) Bilderback; a daughter, Elaine (Jerry) Grubbs; an infant son who died at birth, Alan Wayne Bilderback; four grandchildren, Bradley, Marcy, Whitman and Jessica; eight great grandchildren; and her siblings, Howard Hughes, Darrell Hughes, Bill (Mary) Hughes and Berladean Hughes Clark, as well as nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may assemble for a graveside service at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 3, 2025, at the Bernie Cemetery in Bernie, MO.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
