Obituary

Bonnie Jean Barnes Smith, age 81, died Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at her home near Sikeston.

Born August 15, 1943, at Sikeston, MO, to the late Harold Eugene Barnes and Janice Earline Smith Barnes, she had lived in Southeast Missouri most of her life and she was a cashier and secretary and employed as the office manager for over 20 years for Dr. Roberts in Sikeston.  She was member of the Grayridge General Baptist Church.

Bonnie loved to ride horses with her dad, especially attending rodeos. She loved spending time with her family; it was so very important. Especially watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren play ball, fishing with her son and playing bingo with her granddaughters every Friday night. Bonnie will certainly be missed.

On May 26, 1961, she married William Beck Smith, who preceded her in death, August 3, 2014.

Surviving are her sons, Woodrow Eugene Smith and John Douglas Smith both of Sikeston; her son in law, Ronald Wilson of Bloomfield; grandchildren, Ashley (Landon) Wheeler, Jena (Derrick) Mitchell, Brittany Smith, Jacob Smith, Skylar Smith and Jayden Smith; great grandchildren, Abbigale (Andrew) Partenberry, Ashland Wheeler, Gunner Bugg, Ryce Wheeler, Ryder Enos and Cayden Davidson; one great great grandson, Myles Partenberry; her aunt, Pat Adams, as well as a number of other family members and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Janice Elaine Wilson.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at noon, Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston.  Her grandson in law, Derrick Mitchell, pastor of the Grayridge General Baptist Church, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Sikeston.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Wilson, Landon Wheeler, Andrew Partenberry, Gunner Bugg, Ryce Wheeler and Lucas Cline.
