Obituary

BRENDA SUE LONG MANKER, Age 69, a resident of Murray, KY, died Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at the St. Clare Hospital in Fenton, MO.

Born November 14, 1944, at Portageville, MO, to the late John and Ethel Beaird Long, she was raised in the Charleston and Sikeston area and moved to Murray, KY in 1969, when her husband was transferred there with his job. She was a member of the Cherry Corner Baptist Church in Murray and had been employed at Storey's Food Giant in Murray a number of years until her retirement.

On September 23, 1961, she married Kenneth Jewell Manker, Sr., who preceded her in death on May 19, 2012.

Surviving are two sons and daughters in law, Ken (Carol) Manker of Grand Rivers, KY and Terry (Regina) Manker of Paducah, KY; one daughter and son in law, Kelly (Jamie) Vaughn of Jackson, TN; two brothers, John Long of Aurora, IL and Dickie Long of Johnson City, TN; three sisters, Shirley DeWitt and Diane Ledbetter both of Sikeston, MO and Sherry June Howell of New Madrid, MO. Her grandchildren, Ashley (Paul) Lanier, Terry Manker, Jr., Lindsey Manker, Chelsea (Logan) Schmidt, Jacob Manker, Adam Vaughn and Kenslee Vaughn; and one great granddaughter, Chloe Lanier; and her beloved dog, Josie.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Larry Manker, four brothers, Ron Long, Bob Long, Charles Long and Frankie Long and by two sisters, Freida Williams and Doris Riley.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 27, 2014, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, MO where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 28, 2014. The Rev. Jeff Polk, pastor of the New Madrid Baptist Church of New Madrid, MO, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be: Ken Manker, Terry Manker, Jacob Manker, Terry Manker, Jr., Jamie Vaughn and Adam Vaughn.
