Brenda Gale Nimmo, age 74, of Sikeston, died Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born November 29, 1949, at Sikeston, to the late Cleatus "Pete" Curtis and Burlene Wait Curtis, she had lived in Sikeston most of her life where she attended the Shady Acres Church of Christ. For over 53 years, Brenda worked as a nurse. Starting her career as an LPN and then on to become an RN.  She worked in various facilities during those years including hospital duty, a hospice nurse, and then the school nurse for Southeast Elementary in Sikeston before her retirement.   She was faithful and committed in each of those positions with the care of her patients always at its best.    To her family, she always left them with the saying "I love you more!"  and they truly felt that.

On August 3, 1997, she married Jerry Nimmo, who survives of the home.

Also surviving are her daughters, Kathryn (Eric) Stevens and Kenna Jo (Eric) Sadler both of Sikeston; her stepdaughter, Kimberly Wilson of Morehouse; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; her brothers, Robert Curtis of Matthews and Kenneth (Jamie) Curtis of Dexter; three special nephews, Austin Curtis, Noah Curtis and Jacob Curtis; as well as other nieces, nephews and cousins and especially her fur baby, Rudy.

In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her son, Curtis Paul Plunk, her infant son, Kenneth D. Plunk and her step- daughter, Laurie Ann DeWitt.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at 6:00 p.m., Monday, April 22, 2023, at Shady Acres Church of Christ in Sikeston.  Keith Olbricht will officiate.

A private burial will follow at the Matthews Cemetery at Matthews.
