Obituary

Carl Cokenour, 99, died Monday April 8, 2013 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. He was born Sept. 8, 1913 at Boynton, Arkansas to the late Joseph Henry and Ellen (Hutchcraft) Cokenour. On Oct. 23, 1932 he was united in marriage to Lou Vesta Teet and she preceded him in death July 22, 1984.
He had worked as a store clerk at Walker Grocery, as a road salesman for McKnight-Keaton, and as a sales clerk for Riggs Wholesale.
Formerly of New Madrid, he had lived in Sikeston for over 60 years, was a member of Hunter Memorial First Presbyterian Church, SEMO Baseball Hall of Fame and the Crown Bowling League.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Melvin & Lois Cokenour of Sikeston; 2 grandchildren, Debra Lee Cokenour of Del Ray Beach, Florida and Mike and Renee Cokenour of Sikeston and by 2 great-grandchildrren, Mitchell and Taylor Cokenour of Sikeston. He was preceded in death by one brother Earl Cokenour.
Friends may call at Hunter Memorial First Prebyterian Church from 11:00 am Thursday, April 11, until time for funeral services at 1:00 pm. Rev. Dr. Tom Bass, Pastor of Dexter Prebyterian Church and Rev. John Goodwin, pastor of Hunter Memorial First Prebyterian Church will officiate and burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Steve Bell, David Dillender, David Hay, Ronnie Hodges, Raburn Evans and Steve Bailey. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Conrad and Joel Montgomery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at blanchardfuneral.com
