Carol Jean Mercer, 72, died at her daughteer's home Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012.
She was born March 1, 1940 at Jackson to the late Wilson B. "Moon" and Pribanou Clodine "Peggy" (Ackman) Godwin.
A resident of this area most of her life she had attended Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and was a member of Eagles Aries #3319.
She was married to Jack Mercer Nov. 1, 1958 at Sikeston and he preceded her in death Jan. 6, 2007.
She is survived by 1 daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Shane Golightly of Sikeston; 1 brother, Joe Godwin of Morley. Four grandchildren, Lindsey Mercer, Geena Hooper, Josh Golightly and Dalton Golightly also survive.
Friends may call from 5 pm Tuesday, Jan.1, 2013 until time for memorial service at 6 pm at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. John Tarter, pastor officiating.
