Carol Maxine Morris, 87, formerly of Sikeston, died Friday, June 2, 2017 at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. She was born near Chaffee, Aug. 22, 1929 to the late William Henry and Virginia Minnie (Slinkard) White. A resident of this area most of her life, she was married to Clifford B. Morris May 20, 1950 in Chaffee and he preceded here in death June 4, 2002. She had been office manager at Morris Insurance Agency and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sikeston. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi and had been a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #137 in Sikeston. She was later married to E. Leon Whitler on May 24, 2003 in Sikeston and he preceded her in death June 13, 2016. While living in Jackson she became a member of Zion Methodist Church--Gordonville. She is survived by 2 sons & daughters-in-law: Dr. Clifford B. & Christine Morris, Jr. of Eldorado, IL and Kenneth Lee & Charlotte Morris of St. Charles, MO; 1 daughter, Teresa Morris of Boerne, Texas; and two sisters, Martha Standridge of Sikeston and Camille Crumbaugh of Springfield, IL. Also surviving are six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 4 sisters. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 6, at First United Methodist Church in Sikeston from 11:00 am until time for services at 1:00 pm. Rev. Joel Kidwell, her pastor from Zion United Methodist Church--Gordonville will officiate and he will be assisted by Rev. Jennifer Moxey, associate pastor of First United Methodist Church in Sikeston. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Swain, Mike Jobe, Ryan Jobe, Gene Morris, Bill Raben and Jim Morris.
