Carolyn Louise Butrum,age 69, died at her home in Sikeston at 10:40 am Monday, May 21, 2012.
She was born October 4, 1942 at Wolf Island, Kentucky to the late Byoma & Addie May (Wilson) Long.
On April 4, 1958 she was united in marriage to Marvin L. Butrum at Benton and he survives of the home.
She had been employed at Ferrell's Market in Charleston and later as
Cafeteria Manager at Southeast Elementary School in Sikeston.
A lifelong resident of this area, she was a member of Crossroads of Hope Community Church in Sikeston.
Her biggest role in life was that of a very dedicated "Pastor's Wife"
and looking after not only her own family but her church family as well. She fought a courageous 13 year battle with Inflammatory Breast cancer and was always willing to discuss her plight with anyone.
Besides her husband she is also survived by 1 son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Matthew & Heather Butrum of Chaffee; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Diane & Tim Chappell of Sikeston and Cindy & Mark Reed of Atlanta, GA; 2 brothers, Virgil Long of Benton and Frank Quertermous of Scott City and a favorite aunt, Virginia Butrum.
Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Kent & Kyleigh Chappell of Sikeston; Eric & Mykah Chappell of Sikeston; Adam Reed of Sikeston; Abigail Reed of Atlanta; and Isaiah Butrum & Josiah Butrum of Chaffee; and 3 great-grandchildren, Kinleigh Chapell, Katelynn Chappell & Kolton Chappell of Sikeston.
She was preceded in death by 5 brothers.

Wednesday, May 23 at Blanchard Funeral Chapel where funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, May 24 with Rev. Matthew Butrum, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Chaffee assisted by Rev. Rick Ramsey, Pastor of Crossroads of Hope Community Church officiating. Burial will follow at
Unity Cemetery at Benton.
Pallbearers will be Kent Chappell, Eric Chappell, Tim Chappell, Adam Reed, Mark Reed, Corky Butrum, Abigail Reed, Isaiah Butrum and Josiah Butrum.
