CARRIE M. SISK HORNBACK,age 95, a resident of Charleston, died Monday,
February 28, 2011, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
She was born December 30, 1915 near East Prairie to the late Jesse E. and Janie Cooper Sisk. She had lived in Mississippi County her entire life and was a babysitter for children of all ages, too numerous to count. A 67 year member of New Bethel Baptist Church, she was a former Primary Department Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School worker, and served as church custodian for many years.
On May 12, 1934 she married Abe Hornback who preceded her in death on September 18, 1985.
Surviving are two sons and daughters in law, Glenn and Sharon Hornback of Phoenix, AZ, Ronald and Rosa Hornback of Charleston; two daughters and sons in law, Wanda and Bob Berry of Charleston and Brenda and James Hall of Sikeston; two brothers and one sister in law, J.E. and Margie Sisk of Charleston, and Jerry Sisk of Tucson, AZ; one sister in law, Mickey Sisk of Bertrand; eleven grandchildren, thirty two great grandchildren, twelve great great grandchildren, three step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Charlotte Berry Evans, one great grandson, two great great granddaughters, two brothers, and three sisters.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2011. Rev. Ted Wimberley, pastor of New Bethel Baptist Church, will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Berry, Jamie Hall, Chris Hall, Richard Conn, Anthony Morris, and Bill Rutledge.
