Catherine Taylor Fitzgerald passed away February 9, 2017. Born September 15, 1924 in Sikeston, MO, she was the daughter of Casper and Maggie Mertz Taylor.
Accomplished with needlepoint, she made beautiful pieces of art for all her family that will be treasured. Cat was well known for her love of the St. Louis Cardinals, playing bridge and all things fashion, particularly her beloved Ferragamo shoes.
She attended Sikeston Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1942. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church where she was active in the Daughters of Isabella and the Altar Sodality. While living in Rogers, AR, she became a beloved member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tontitown, Arkansas.
In June 1960 she married Woodrow W. Fitzgerald who preceded her in death on May 12, 1987.
Cat is survived by her children Terry (Sherry) Fitzgerald, Pat (Gary) Fakes, Judy (Mont) Mitchell; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her daughter Mary Fitzgerald, her grandson Matthew Fitzgerald, her sister Lynn Taylor Fitzgerald and her 3 brothers Robert Jackson, Philip Taylor, Charles M. Taylor.
The family will welcome friends on Friday, February 24, 2017 from 9 to 10:30am at St. Francis Xavier Parish Center with a funeral mass following at 11am at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Father Alexander Nwagwu, associate pastor, will serve as celebrant.
