Obituary

CATHERINE PATRICIA DIEBOLD RENAUD, age 94, a resident of the Texas Bend Community in rural Charleston, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2015.

She was born March 17, 1921 in Benton to the late Lawrence and Suzanna Essner Diebold. A graduate of Benton High School, she was named Salutatorian of her graduating class. Following graduation she was employed as a secretary at the Scott County Court House in Benton until her marriage in 1942 at which time she moved to Charleston where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church serving with the Legion of Mary. A member of the St. Henry Quilting Club she was an avid quilter, also a 4-H leader, and member of the former Texas Bend Extension Club. She loved to bake and play the card game Pinochle.

On September 21, 1942 she married Dalbert Charles Renaud who preceded her in death on January 25, 1982.

Surviving are three sons and daughters in law, David (Marilyn) Renaud of Charleston, John (Shirley) Renaud of Cape Girardeau, Robert (Kathy) Renaud of rural Charleston; three daughters and sons in law, Mary Sue (John) Layton of Cape Girardeau, Ann (Marvin) Hatton of Bertrand, Rosemary (Fred) Showmaker of Charleston; one son in law, Dan Suchy of Pace, FL; 14 grandchildren, Shawn Lowe, Sonya Nickell, Mark Renaud, Kevin Renaud, Jennifer Layton, Susan Layton, Brian Renaud, Kurt Showmaker, Claire Showmaker, Paul Suchy, Laura Suchy, Mary Kate Renaud, Michael Nally, and Ben Nally; 11 great grandchildren, Katie Lowe, Ally Lowe, Chase Showmaker, Mason Renaud, Marianne Renaud, Matthew Renaud, Charles Renaud, Anthony Renaud, Genevieve Renaud, Gregory Renaud, and Veronica Renaud; her special Caregivers, Ellen Crosier, Ginger McDermott, and Peggy Appleton.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Martha Suchy, one grandson, three brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 21, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the McMikle Funeral Home where prayers will be recited at 4:45 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston with Monsignor Richard Rolwing and Father Maria Thuma serving as Celebrants.

Interment will follow in the Texas Bend Cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Kurt Showmaker, Kevin Renaud, Mark Renaud, Ben Nally, Michael Nally and Brian Renaud.
