C.D. BROWN, age 76, a resident of Charleston, died Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at the home of his daughter in Sikeston.
Born March 23, 1941, at Marble Hill, MO, to the late Woodie Brown and Lucy Bell Estes Brown, he had lived in Charleston most of his life where he was employed with the Brown Shoe Company a number of years and then the DeWitt Company of Sikeston. He later was employed as a custodian with the Charleston R-1 School District until his retirement. A member and deacon at the Church of God of Prophecy of Charleston until its closing, he later became a member of the Bertrand Church of God of Prophecy.
On March 13, 1970, he married Carman Louise Snider, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are two sons, John Patterson Brown of Wyatt and Timothy Allen Snider of Newport, AR; two daughters, Candace Lee Drum of Perryville, MO and Connie Marie Velazquez of Sikeston; four brothers, Jerry Brown of Cleveland, OH; Floyd Brown of Charleston; and Stanley Brown and Jessie Brown both of Phelan, CA; one sister, Dessie Gross of Charleston; 10 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren. Also, several nieces, nephews and cousins survive.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ralph Brown and by two sisters, Jurlene Burcks and Inavee Spoon.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 12, 2017, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Pastor Jennifer Brashears and Rev. Gerald Penn, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Scopus, MO, under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
Pallbearers will be Kelly Brown, Jonathan Brown, Austen Smith, Jacob Hanna, Dillan Brown, Dakota Brown, Nathaniel Crowly, and DJ Burcks.
