Obituary

CECIL SHERMAN HARTWICK, 81, a resident of Sikeston formerly of Charleston, died Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the Sikeston Convalescent Center.

He was born September 16, 1935 in Kelso, AR to Marvin Clark and Mozell Osborne Hartwick who preceded him in death. In December 1952 he moved to Reeves where he worked on Temple's farm until moving to St. Louis in 1956 where he accepted a position as meat cutter with National Food Stores, and in 1967 was transferred to Del Farm/National Food Stores in Charleston. After retiring from National Food Stores, he established Hartwick Construction Company in Charleston and worked as a licensed contractor and electrician until retirement in 2009. He was a former member of the United Meat Cutters Union, the IOOF Lodge, a media member of the Family Worship Center in Baton Rouge, LA, and a member of Pine Street General Baptist Church in East Prairie.

In 1956 he married Ester May McMinn who preceded him in death on April 1, 2002. On November 10, 1990 he married Barbara Ann Oliver who survives of the home.

Also surviving are five children, Michael Sherman (Alia) Hartwick of Eureka, Linda (Steven) Oakley and John Kevin Hartwick (Christy Adams) all of Sikeston, Jimmy Roy (Sherry) Knight of Blodgett, and Michael Anthony (Balinda) Knight of Homer, MI; one brother, Kenneth (Joyce) Hartwick of Bertrand; and one sister, Mildred (Kenneth) Harrington of Charleston; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at the McMikle Funeral Home from 10:00 am until the funeral hour at noon. Rev. Dean Wallace, pastor of the Wyatt Baptist Church will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Dakota Harrington, Bryan Harrington, Bill Manes, Cody Dussell, Todd Peters and Ethan Peters.

Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.

Immediately following graveside service a meal will be served at the First Assembly of God Church, 608 S. Main Street, Charleston,MO.
