Charlene Burns, 65, died Tuesday morning, Aug. 7, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Aug. 18, 1946 at Sikeston to the late Hubert F.M. and Virlon Mae (Wyatt) Cooksey.
A lifelong resident of this area, she was a housewife and had attended First Baptist Church at Diehlstadt.
She was married Aug. 7, 1965 to Gerald Wayne Burns in Alton, Illinois and he preceded her in death Sept. 8, 2011.
She is survived by 3 sons and 1 daughter-in-law: Brian Wayne Burns of Sikeston, Mark Edward and Lisa Burns of Sikeston and Scott Burns of Sikeston; two brothers, James Carley Cooksey and Huberet Harley Cooksey both of Matthews; two sisters Ludene Burns and Doris Graham both of Sikeston. Five Grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Rebecca Marie "Becky" Burns and by one granddaughter on Aug. 25, 2010.
Friends may call from 11 am until time for services at 12:30 pm Friday Aug. 10 at Blanchard Funeral Chapel. Her brother-in-law Robert Burns of Sumner, Ill. will officiate. Burial will follow at 2 pm at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
Pallbearers will be B.J. Burns, Tony Burns, Steve Turner, Randy Burns, Gary Keeton and Jackie Bradley.
