IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles Alvin
Baker
April 3, 1956 – March 29, 2024
Charles Alvin "Chuck" Baker, age 67, of Sikeston, went to be with Jesus, Friday, March 29, 2024, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, surrounded by his family.
Charles was born April 3, 1956, in Cairo, Il, to the late Homer Lee and Carolyn Tousky Baker and was a 1975 graduate of Charleston High School. He worked in the agriculture and the automotive industry until 1991, when he started B & J Enterprises, building utility and enclosed trailers of all sizes and styles, until 2006. He was a person that never asked his employees to do that he would not do himself, standing right beside them doing the same thing. He was a great teacher to anyone who wanted to learn. His passions included fishing, carpentry, metal work and most importantly a love for serving Christ.
He was involved in the ministry of the Full Gospel Church in East Prairie. Chuck loved people and loved to help anyone he could. He was not much of a talker but when he did, it wasn't just words, it was answers. He loved his church family and his 'church'- Full Gospel, which he served in a leadership role as a board member and as head of their beautification goal. He was a carpenter that had knowledge and skills that most could only imagine.
Chuck is now resting in the arms of Jesus after years of declining health.
On December 8, 1978, he married Sheila McElroy, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are his sons, Benjamin (Jessica) Baker of Hallsville, MO, and Bryan (Liz) Baker of Benton, MO; his brothers, Gary (Debbie) Worthy of Charleston and Randy (Mary Jo) Worthy of Marston; his grandchildren, Brodie, Jaelyn, Conner, and Maddie; as well as a several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the Full Gospel Church in East Prairie.
The family kindly requests in lieu of flowers, plants, and gift items, that memorial gifts be made to the Full Gospel Church building fund, 514 North Garfield St., East Prairie, MO 63845.
McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
