Obituary
CHARLES WILLIAM 'BILL' WHITE, Age 76, a resident of Bertrand, MO, died Sunday, March 09, 2014, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born December 15, 1937, in the Little Prairie Township of Pemiscot County, Missouri, to the late William Lafayette and Jessie Wilborn Worman White, he had lived in Bertrand a number of years. He had been employed as a deckhand at Simpson Oil Company, a milk salesman with Atteberry Dairy, the Grove Company as a truck driver and then Triangle/Essex Wire Company as a machine operator. He also worked doing lawn care, electrical, other handyman and maintenance work. He was a member of the Charleston Masonic Lodge 407 AF & AM and the Church of Christ at Blodgett.
On November 8, 1959, he married Geraldine Harper, who survives of the home in Bertrand.
Other survivors include one son, Kevin Dale White and his wife, Susan Ezzell White, of Bertrand; his granddaughter, Elana White Bryant and her husband, Andrew R. Bryant of Charleston and his grandson, Daniel Kevin White and his wife, Kaitlyn Turnbow White, of East Prairie, MO; his great grandchildren, Mary Stella Bryant and James Andrew Bryant both of Charleston.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilborn Lafayette White, Lloyd Collins White and Wells Worthington White, and by one sister, Marie White McClerndon.
Bill loved life, his family and helping others. He was always yearning to learn new things like how to work a computer at the age of 70, anything historical, and reading and teaching the Bible.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, where funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 12, 2014. Russell Rice, minister with the Church of Christ at Blodgett, will officiate. A eulogy will be offered by his niece, Lana Bacchus Carman.
Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: Daniel Kevin White, Andrew R. Bryant, Terry McKinnie, Larry Learue, Derek Wheeler and Barry Sisk.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Lynn McKinnie, Jerry Holland, Bill Bacchus, Glenn Hatley, Donald Harper, Steve Turnbow, Freddie White, Homer Oliver and Lloyd Boley.
