Obituary

Charles David Brashears, age 79, died Friday, November 18, 2022, at his home in Sikeston, surrounded by his family.

He was born September 5, 1943, in Charleston to the late Charles William "Bill" Brashears and Ruby Lee Hurley Brashears.  He grew up in Mississippi County but had lived in Sikeston for a number of years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served from 1966 to 1968, and was employed with Prairie Farms Dairy until his retirement in 2003.

On February 10, 1966, he married Sue Hooper of Bertrand, Missouri and she survives of the home.

Also surviving are his sons, Steven (Amy) Brashears and Mike (Sherrie) Brashears; his grandchildren, Mark, Crystal, Matt, Heather and Charlie; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Linda Claton and Sue Rettig; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.  Also, a special sister-in-law and family friend, Connie Hooper.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by ten siblings, Lucille, Retta Melba Jean, Carol Ruth, Beverly Ann, Jackie, Paula, Bill, Ivaleen and Rosie, and brother-in-law, John Hooper.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until noon, Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston.

Graveside Services with military honors will follow at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO.  Pastor Jennifer Brashear will officiate.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Sikeston.

Pallbearers will be Steven Brashears, Clay Hooper, Steve Rettig, Flipper Naile, Charlie Naile and Larry Naile.
