Charles W. "Chuck" Linebaugh, 87 of Valparaiso, IN, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2024.
He was born March 28, 1937, in Jefferson City, MO, to the late William and Lillie (Martin) Linebaugh. Chuck proudly served in the Army National Guard for 25 years and acquired the rank of First Sergeant. He made his career as a Steelworker with the steel mills in Gary, IN before serving as a Physical Plant Director for the State of Indiana. In his retirement, Chuck enjoyed gardening and working on the old family farm in Brazil, IN, where he took care of the wildlife preserve, and raised crops and livestock. Lucky friends and family members were the recipients of Chuck's farm fresh chicken eggs. Chuck will be remembered as "a character" by his loved ones.
On March 3, 1956, in Charleston, MO, Chuck married Glenna L. Hickey, who preceded him in death April 26, 2014.
He is survived by their sons: Charles (Stephanie) Linebaugh II of Chicago, IL, and Brian (Emily) Linebaugh of Portage, MI; grandchildren: Luke, Lake, Leif, August, and Bowie.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Charleston, MO. Rev. Scott Moon, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Charleston, will officiate.
Memorial donations may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation.
McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
