Charles Anthony McCluney

December 30, 1956 — January 21, 2026

Charleston

Charles Anthony McCluney was born in Kansas City, MO on December 30, 1956 to the union of Charlie McDaniel and Nannie Mae Williams. At a young age, Charles was an active kid, teaching his younger brother and sisters how to behave, how to tie their shoes, walked them to school and back home.

Charles loved westerns and sports and he really loved to reminisce about our childhood. Being the brother that he was, he taught us to protect each other and the family. He taught Jessie how to wrestle and do a signature move, The Back Breaker, the Charlie Brown dances and various important things.

Charles graduated from Charleston Senior High School in 1975 and immediately went into the Army. Mom didn’t agree but accepted. He was stationed in Germany for a few years, then Massachusetts and later settled in Dover, Delaware. In 2016 Charles suffered a massive stroke, which left his speech slower and a limp but he was a fighter. Charles then moved back to Charleston, MO.

Charles brought love and joy to his friends and family. He leaves behind his best friends; Jack Murray and Barbara Murray. When you see one, you see the other. He loved his family with all his heart.

Charles departed this earth on January 21, 2026 at his home with a smile on his face. He is preceded in death by his mother, Nannie Wiliams, His father Charlie McDaniel, 2 brothers, Andrew Lee and Dwayne Williams, 2 sisters Junetta and Nannette Williams and one nephew Jerold.

He is survived by one sister, Theresa McCluney and one aunt Jean Green, a host of nieces and nephews and cousins.

He will aways be remembered by “Unc”. Charles was loved beyond measure. He will be sadly missed by his family.
