Obituary

CHARLES WILLIAM PERRY II, age 89, died Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at his residence in Bertrand.

Born May 20, 1925 in Senath to the late Charles William and Flora Parlimon Perry, he had lived in Southeast Missouri his entire life. He owned and operated Perry Farm Equipment in Bertrand for over 40 years and was a member of the Fellowship Baptist in Sikeston where he served as a deacon. A U.S. Army veteran of WWII and recipient of a Purple Heart , he landed with the troops at Normandy Beach on D-Day and was later critically wounded in Belgium and returned to the states on December 8, 1944, a day he fondly referred to as his 2nd birthday.

On April 2, 1942 he married Geraldine Winters who survives of the home.

Also surviving are five children, Regina (John) Irick of Orangeburg, SC, Karen (Charles) Julian of Chesapeake, VA, Charles W. (Syndi) Perry III of Benton, Gary R. (Teri) Perry of St. Charles, and Casey (Melissa) Perry of Nashville, TN; eight grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Jay Perry, one granddaughter, LaDonna Gay Irick; three sisters, Ruby Hesselrode, Bonnie Perry and Velma Presley; and four brothers, Glynn Perry, James Perry, Bennie Perry, and Jesse Perry.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Joe McCullough of Cape Girardeau will officiate.


Missouri Military Honor Guard will conduct Graveside Rites at IOOF Cemetery. Interment will follow under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.


Pallbearers will be John Irick, John Irick Jr., Charles Julian, Tom Mock, Josh Perry, and Tim Arnold.
