Obituary

CHARLES EDWARD ROSE, age 84, lost his battle with cancer, Monday, September 27, 2021, at his home in Sikeston.

He was born December 21, 1936, Pocahontas, AR, to the late Edd and Ruth Segraves Rose. An avid hunter and fisherman, he loved the outdoors. He spent the majority of his life in retail, including stores such as Ben Franklin, Rose's Fashion Corner, and lastly retiring from Wal-Mart. He was known to many as "Good Time Charlie" and some also knew him as "Stick."

Charles was an SP4 US Army Quartermaster serving in France from 1957 to 1960.  He was a long-standing member of the Sikeston Elks Lodge, a member of the American Legion, and exhausted Rooster of the Sikeston Jaycees and a member of numerous hunting and fishing clubs. Charles loved to cook. He made many friends throughout his life.

He married Donnie Ruth Williams in 1963 and together they had two daughters, De'Nekia (John) Nelson and Heather (Tim) Hill. He was grandfather of seven, Kai (Michaela) Lambert, Kaiden Lambert, Meghan (Carter) Ridlon, Cooper Hill, Errynn Hill, Brennah Hill, and Emmersynn Hill; he was also great grandfather of two, Eleanor Ruth Hill and Jaxson Charles Lambert, with two more on the way. Also surviving are his brothers, Ray (Wanda) Rose, Vernon (Carol) Rose, Larry (Frances) Rose and two sisters, Marzell Carmickle and Bea Rowden as well as many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death in addition to his wife and parents was one sister, Eddith Lindsey and one brother, Leondus Rose;

Family and friends may assemble  for services to be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 1, 2021, in the committal shelter of the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield with full military honors.  Buddy Heaton will officiate.

(** a mask is required  to be worn to enter the cemetery committal shelter.)

Interment will follow under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston.
