Obituary

CHARLES B. SAMONS, age 70, died Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at his home in Bertrand.

Born July 21, 1946, at Charleston, MO, to the late Bural and Ann Marie Helms Samons, he had lived in Charleston most of his life. For 29 years he was employed with Gates Rubber Company at Charleston until his retirement. After retirement, he was employed at Scheffer Printing until ill health forced his retirement.

On September 3, 1988, he married Carletta Welch, who survives of the home.

Also surviving is one daughter, Michelle Palmerton of Gilbert, AZ; two sons, Bruce Chapman II of Charleston and Christopher (Sara) Chapman of Sikeston, MO; two granddaughters, Hayli Chapman of Sikeston and Bella Chapman of Charleston; one grandson, Clayton Spaulding of Sikeston; four sisters, Maxine Bozeman of East Prairie; Donna Carter of Charleston; Doris Davis of Kennett and Bessie Smith of Benton; also, many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Ashley Palmerton.

Friends may assemble at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston for graveside services, Monday, May 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Robb Webster, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Charleston, and Rev. Dean Wallace, pastor of the Wyatt Baptist Church, will officiate.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
