CHARLES EDWARD "CHARLIE" OLIVER, Age 50, a resident of Charleston, died Wednesday, April 6, 2016, near Wickliffe, KY, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Born October 17, 1965, at Charleston, MO, the son of Barney Ray and Nellie Elizabeth Grogan Oliver who survive of Charleston, he had lived in Charleston his entire life where he was a 1984 graduate of Charleston High School. In 1986 he began a lifelong career of work on the river when he became employed with Fitzgerald Marine. In 2000, he went to work for Midland Barge Company and followed them when they were bought out by the Ingram Company in 2001. He had served in the Missouri National Guard and enjoyed sports, woodworking, hunting and fishing and being with his family.
On February 14, 1985, he married Betty Ketchum, who survives of the home.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by one son, Isaac Dalton Oliver of the home; two daughters, Lauren Michelle Oliver of Sikeston and Katherine MiKayla Oliver of the home; one sister and brother in law, Melissa Ann and Dale Tatum of Charleston; one nephew, Jake Tatum and one niece, Maddie Tatum. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by one nephew, Caleb Aaron Tatum; his maternal grandparents, Edward Simon and Lola Margaret Brown Grogan and his paternal grandparents, Charles Ray and Kate Elizabeth Gray Oliver.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, April 10, 2016, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 11, 2016.
Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston with full military graveside rites provided by the Missouri Military Honors Program.
Pallbearers will be: Joey Grogan, Brandon Wade, Billy Butler, Levi Moore, Sean Fitzgerald, Len O'Connor, J.R. Kelley and Tony Natero.
Honorary Pallbearer will be: Todd Palmer.

A Celebration of Charlie's life will be held at the Charleston High School Football field, at 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2016. All are welcome to attend.
