Christopher Lee Boren, Sr., age 50, formerly of Charleston, died Sunday, September 5, 2021.
Chris was born April 18, 1971, at Galesburg, IL, to Joel Baxter Boren and Suzanne Foster Boren, who survive of Charleston.
The Boren family moved to Charleston in 1982, when Chris's father took a position with Gates Rubber Company. A 1989 graduate of Charleston High School, Chris was active in football and the agriculture department. Chris was confirmed as a young man as a member of the United Methodist Church in Charleston but later attended the Church of God of Prophecy.
After high school, Chris joined the United States Army where he was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. From there he was deployed to Saudi Arabia for nine months and later had other deployments. He returned to Fort Bragg, where he completed his term of enlistment. He then returned to Charleston where he had been employed with Medlin Equipment Company as a mechanic.
In addition to his father and mother, Chris is survived by his son, Christopher Lee (Haley) Boren, Jr., who is stationed with the U.S. Army at Fort Campbell, KY; his daughter, Courtney Paige (Allen Hemphill) Boren of Imperial, MO; his brother, Scott Eugene (Robin) Boren of Louisville, KY; his sister, Cheryl Ann (Danny) Counts of Cape Girardeau; his grandchildren, Gabe, A.J., Levi, Blake and Emma Rose; his nieces and nephews, Brianna, Kassie, Macey, Dakota and Lucas; three Army brothers, Jason Fredenburg, Shawn Cox and Mike Offutt; also surviving is the mother of his children, Terri Passley.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Margie Lucille Flora Foster, Willam Eugene Foster, John Lewis Boren, Peggy Scott and Frank Scott.'
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until time for the memorial service at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Rev. J. Robert Webster, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Charleston, will officiate.
