CLARA MAE JOHNSON RIGGS, Age 83, a resident of Charleston, died Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the East Prairie Nursing Center.

Born October 17, 1927, in the Henson Community of Mississippi County, MO, to the late Steve and Mable Baldwin Johnson, she had lived in Charleston her entire life where she was a member of the Elm Street Baptist Church. She had been employed at the Brown Shoe Company in Charleston and along with her husband, was secretary and co-owner and operator of Riggs Garage. After their retirement, the business was taken over by their son.

On March 14, 1946, she married Harold Lee Riggs, who preceded her in death December 9, 2001.

Surviving are: one son and daughter in law, Dean and Brenda Riggs of Charleston; one brother, Bobby Joe Johnson of Harrison, AR; one sister, Chattie Smith of Charleston; one grandson and granddaughter in law, Paul and Shawndale Riggs of East Prairie; one granddaughter and grandson in law, Kathy and Rick Galemore of Keller, TX; also six great grandchildren, Taylor Galemore, Scotty Riggs, Jordan Galemore, Matt Galemore, Tucker Riggs and Nick Galemore.

One brother, Arnold Eugene Johnson, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Jon Archie, pastor of the Elm Street Baptist Church of Charleston, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers:
Tommy Nolen, Don Hequembourg, Bruce Childers, Shapley Hunter, Larry Mitchell and Mike Green.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Ron Mitchell and Stanley Mitchell.
